As much as what happened to Wilson sucked...I really liked the ending. But I'm a bit morbid and always assume that if Wilson didn't get chemo or died soon anyway, that House would commit suicide afterward; I liked that version. (I know, I know, it just made sense to me.)

That said, I also live in a happy world where Wilson was saved by a fairy or perhaps a curaga spell, and he and House spend the rest of their days having badass ~whimsical~ adventures and gay sex.

Whatever makes you happy, OP.

(And I'm sure there are legit ways he could've lived longer, so...there's still hope? He didn't die on screen, THERE IS ALWAYS HOPE.)

I actually really like assuming that House would kill himself if Wilson died, so I'm glad it's not just me. I started writing fic like that, where House kills himself and it leads everyone to realize he wasn't dead previously and try to piece together what really happened. I just can't imagine House giving up everything in his life to be with Wilson and then just carrying on after Wilson died. He's still as fucked up as ever, and suicide would probably seem like a perfectly good option to him.

That's how I saw it. Even with Wilson alive House is a suicidal wreck at times, and he doesn't have much except his love for mysteries and Wilson. He might enjoy hookers and soap operas and piano but House is easily bored and gets disinterested in things quickly; I really don't see him not falling apart after Wilson's death and just not caring anymore. More than likely he'll do it calmly right after Wilson goes so he doesn't have to suffer overlong.

I think his decision at the end of the series shows him realizing that Wilson is the only thing he can't live without, for exactly the reasons you stated. I imagine he has sort of an escape plan for what he'll do when Wilson dies, and I don't see it being anything but immediate. His enjoyment of other things just doesn't last, and he knows that.

That's how I took it. I mean...he was willing to let himself burn to death when he thought of the alternatives (prison and not being with Wilson in his last months). So he found a way to be with Wilson but he sacrificed his other great love and Wilson is the only substantial thing he has left. I just can't imagine him wanting to live past that.

I thought the same thing. The only thing getting in the way of the theory for me was the "but I can change", what do you think he meant by that? Pretty much everyone else I've talked to took it as "he'll spend Wilson's last months with him and when he dies, move on and start a new life" which I just don't see happening.

It's been a while since I've seen that episode, but I simply took it to mean that he would be more caring and less selfish in the time he had left. Yea he faked his death and so didn't go to prison for his crime; that could be seen as selfish - but he did it for Wilson. And he knew once he faked his death that he could never go back to the life he was so used to. And in some ways (despite his misery; he'll always have that) loved. (Because of his job, which is largely what he lived for. I saw it as him giving up his love for mysteries for Wilson.)

I still think he'll kill himself after Wilson dies, but I think until then making Wilson happy with be his goal.
