I wish for Hispanic Finnick. Or like. SOMEONE. But you're the first person I've honestly heard anywhere even really care enough to mention the possibility of a Hispanic character in THG. :(

Ehh. tbh I don't find Jesse Williams attractive at all (like.. not even a tiny bit), so I'm turned off from him on many levels. (I can think of several POC guys I'd love for the role a LOT more than Jesse Williams.) I also don't really think Jennifer looks 23/24 in the movies, and was hoping Finnick would be cast closer to the book in being that age, not like, 30. (Johanna is, iirc, supposed to be older than Finnick, so I don't really have an issue there?)

I heard earlier today that Sam Claflin has been cast as Finnick. tbh I'm not upset about that -- I'm more upset that they're allegedly casting a pair of white people to play Beetee and Wirress, who were pretty much outright stated to be Asian.

For what it's worth, on my first read-through I thought Rue was supposed to be Hispanic.

Me too! But that's more because I pictured one of my students while reading it. (Yes, I'm going to hell on a hell train because I'm a horrible teacher/person. In my defense, she held her arms the way Rue did.)

iirc there was a mention of their skin tone or something in the book that made me very sure they were Asian or at least very much not white. I remember because my SO and I were miffed that they were putting them in the "Asian people are good at technology" stereotype mold. I'd have to reread it to find quotes though.

I may be wrong, but they were described as "ashen faced" or something like that, with dark hair. I can see why you'd have thought Asian.
