2. Why would you give that kind of personal information to ANYONE online?? I mean, I've had a lot of fandom friends, and usually it doesn't get any more personal than real FIRST names and home states. I dunno, it just seems irresponsible, even if you feel like you know your fandom friends inside and out. So you're cautious - nothing wrong with that. ;)

It's hard to send each other Christmas cards and birthday gifts without such information. Harder still to crash at their house for a con or a friendly visit without such things.

The internet is a scary place, but it's not THAT scary! >_> I mean yeah, don't advertise your home phone and address on your LJ/myspace info page, but privately giving it to your online friends so you can get in touch at a convention or something isn't irresponsible.
