Well, I've been in fandoms where I'm a newb and fandoms where I've been one of those old farts, but I've never thought it's good form to bash newcomers.

Yes, with an influx of people you will get some irritating ones. That's life, and I'd rather have a fandom with options and viability than one that folds in on itself and eventually dies.
