I was thinking more of where the boobs mash together, which (usually) doesn't happen with guys, but the other anon pointed out how it wouldn't really help much when they're all squished in spandex.

I still want one though. Stupid huge boobs.

You may want to consider replacing your bras. If your boobs are pressed together enough to trap sweat, chances are you need a different size or style. A properly fitting bra should separate your boobs enough that they aren't touching, even if you've got ginormous breasts.

(Anonymous) 2012-07-19 11:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Probably. I hate the idea of moving up to triple-D though.

You hate the idea of having better fitting clothing? What?

(Anonymous) 2012-07-19 11:30 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't enjoy having boobs. Acknowledging they're getting bigger isn't something I look forward to.

Be that as it may, since you do have them, one would assume you wouldn't want them to be uncomfortable. Wouldn't that actually force you to pay MORE attention to them then if they were comfortable, and thus, out of mind?

I can't believe I'm actually agreeing with

I can't believe I'm actually agreeing with <username=insanenoodleguy> on something, but they speak the truth here. I am outright dysphoric about the existence of my boobs, and having bras that actually fit is a godsend for me because it makes them that much easier to ignore.

I'm in a similar boat. The bigger the bra size, the more expensive it gets. Especially past the DDs, we have to get into custom-made stuff, and it's a huge hassle... and extraordinarily expensive.

If you've had a bra for a long time, occasionally it's stretched out with you as you've grown. I was wearing Cs for a long time, didn't think anything of it, and then got re-measured last year... had to buy ALL new bras to accommodate my 38DDs. Six bras, two of them being sports bras? Cost me well over $400.

So while it might fit better, the other anon might not be financially able to get an entirely new set of bras. (or there are other reasons, but money is fairly common, I'm only guessing)

Well, that anon seems to have another issue, but this does make a bit more sense in general. Though that's more of a "I can't" instead of a "I don't want to."

(Anonymous) 2012-07-19 11:40 pm (UTC)(link)
While they are definitely not inexpensive at regular price, figleaves.com has bras for sizes past DD, no custom-making required. And if you don't mind wearing funky colors, you can sometimes get them at a pretty significant discount.

(Anonymous) 2012-07-19 11:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Actually, I'd prefer the funky colors. Bras in my size tend to be "YOU ARE AN OLD LADY, HAVE ALL THESE UGLY FLORALS AND LACE AND BEIGE AHAHAHAHAHA"

Thanks for the tip!

There's a British company called Ann Summers that I buy things from- they've got bras that go up to at least H (I'm a E so I don't usually pay much attention past that). If you don't live in the UK it can be a bit expensive, having to convert from dollars to pounds, but they do have free worldwide shipping if you spend over 35 pounds.

http://www.annsummers.com/p/genevieve-bra-coral/01brrdas1001088 is the most comfortable goddamn bra I've ever owned and it's pretty, too. :)

Sometimes I find it easier and cheaper to buy a bra in a larger chest size, but my cup size, than I need and just modify the back and shoulder straps.

Trust me, you will feel worlds better and like your boobs much more once you're wearing the right size. I stayed in DD's and DDD's for years because I wanted to be able to shop at "normal" lingerie stores and figured it was close enough. I finally got properly fitted a few years back, and suddenly I looked less fat and frumpy, my boobs didn't get painful right before my period anymore, and the stabbing shoulder pain I always got when I played flute went away.

I'm on the triple-D level, and people keep telling me they shouldn't be pressed together no matter what, but the only bras with cups large enough to fit and separate mine also have bands that are far too loose (an assistant at a lingerie store claimed it's my back's rather narrow for what I'm lugging). I need custom fittings, and I'd need a new one maybe twice a year when I gain or lose weight directly from the boob area. Ultimately, it's less of a hassle to just let the damn things be smushed a little so long as I get mostly comfortable and secure containment otherwise.

That lingerie store assistant was full of shit. Cup sizes come bigger than DDD (so much bigger, seriously), and if she claimed she had to go up a band size to get you a big enough cup, what she meant was that her store doesn't carry the cup size you need. I myself wear a GG or H cup depending on the particular bra, and I don't need to have them done custom. There are companies that make bands as small as 30 with cups as large as J, so chances are there are manufacturers already making your size.

My advice would be to seek out a lingerie store that specializes in larger cup sizes or check out Nordstrom, since they recently started carrying up to I think J cups. Request a fitting. Try some stuff on. If you don't like the styles or can't afford the stuff at wherever you go, look online at figleaves.com or bravissimo.com. Both of those places are really great about exchanges, too, if your order arrives and you need a different size.

(Anonymous) 2012-07-20 06:41 am (UTC)(link)
Same person.

Oh, yeah, I know they come bigger, I have no problem finding the right cup or the right band, but those things are never on the same bra for me. Even when the cups are perfect, there are just never enough hooks to get it tight enough for my torso, and getting the band even one size smaller is too tight, like too tight to even hook up at all. I can't tell you how many times I found a bra that would be flawless if only the band would stop doing witchcraft on me. The odd-number sizes that a few brands have might help, so that's my next attempt, and thanks a lot for the suggestions, I'll be stopping by those places. But even if I strike gold, I'll always size out within the year and have to go on the same adventure all over again. So I understand women in the same boat settling for whatever comes close enough to get the basic job done; a little smush is tolerable to save time and frustration.

[personal profile] anonymouslyyours 2012-07-20 07:48 am (UTC)(link)
I always buy based on cup size, with a pretty large band, fit the band how I want it, pin it there, and then just fold the band in on itself and stitch it together. It saves me enough time and money to be worth it so far.

(Anonymous) 2012-07-20 10:16 pm (UTC)(link)
SA

I resort to that sometimes, that or knotting the band together, though it hurts the longevity of the bra stretching the hell out of it to get it on. But yeah, it works in a pinch.

(Anonymous) 2012-07-21 03:31 am (UTC)(link)
You should try going one size down and buying an extender you can hook on, maybe? That might get you a closer band fit without distorting the bra so much. :)

[personal profile] anonymouslyyours 2012-07-21 03:43 am (UTC)(link)
I just googled "bra extender" I had no idea this was a thing! I bet this will help me get more life out of the elasticity in my bras. Thank you so much anon!
