Honestly, I think it would have change the character too much. Born!Lady Loki would not have failed to meet any of Asgard's warrior-centric expectations and would have probably never had a chance at being Queen. Her magic would not have been a "shameful" thing, her trickery and deceive would have been "womanly" traits and not "unmanly" ones. The character dynamics with Thor and Odin would have been completely different. That said, I'd like to see some shapeshifting from Loki.

I'm not enamored with lady!Loki, either, but I'm not sure I agree with this. Lady!Loki could have had even more of a complex when it came to fitting in at Asgard if she retained her craving for power and recognition (just because she couldn't be King no matter what wouldn't negate her desire for it) but was expected to always stay in the shadow of not just Thor, but men in general. "Womanly" and "unmanly" are parallels - Loki's tendency to jump all over gender lines are what makes him such an outcast and that could apply to lady!Loki as well. Hell, she could have the double-whammy of being too physically untalented to even be a proper shieldmaiden, and too willful and crafty to be just a proper maiden. As for the dynamics, Loki's main issues with Thor and Odin (being lied to, being dismissed, being ignored, being undervalued) wouldn't change. So, nah, I don't see how the character difference would be drastic.

I see what you are saying and, while I don't agree completely (I think she would be able to gather power in ways Loki can't), I can see it working as you say.
