I haven't kept up with SPN but one of the things I always liked about it was how co-dependent and messed up the two of them were. (Hey, it made for fascinating television imo.) Their relationship was always the heart of the show to me. However, I don't see why all the other characters need to die to keep them ~alone together~. That's dumb.

Dude, everyone dies, including the brothers. Then they come back. Then they die again. It's just how it is.

That is indeed true! Again, I haven't kept up with the show and maybe a lot of the recurring characters they killed off will be back. If so that's good; every show needs them. And if not...I'm sure they'll be getting new ones anyway.

Doesn't mean OP can't disagree with the direction SPN took this season though.

Ugh, this. I once made a comment to a fan who was just starting to watch the show, but I didn't know it, about one of the characters dying (didn't say which one).

Immediately got yelled at for spoiling the ENTIRE show for them.

I think the writers just reached that point where they're like...hmmmm, who should we have as a new character? Well. Let's just bring this one back.

Well... not really. The only ones that come back are Sam, Dean, Bobby, and Cas.

Everyone else? Pretty permanent! I mean, we see some of them in the afterlife or something, but that's it. So, yeah, when dying when you're a side character's pretty dangerous.
