OMG, this is awesome. I'm not very technical, so I had no idea -- I tried creating an Xbox Live account once, and it just gave me some error saying I had to be connected to the net first (which made me give up, thinking I had to buy hardware). I'll try messing with it, and if it doesn't work out I'll look up that USB thing you suggested!

Go into the setting on your xbox and it should walk you through connecting to your wireless network, if you use a lan cable in the back of the machine to your cable modem/router it should connect automatically.

usb flashdrives are pretty cheap and you can pick them up at any office supply store.

Unfortunately, I did some googling and from what I've just read you can only install updates for your dashboard with an USB flashdrive -- not actual patches for games. And it doesn't seem like my Xbox has wifi after all :(

Sorry, but I own a 360 and they don't have wifi built in. Either you have to buy an adapter, or take an ethernet(lan) cable and plug one end into the back of your Xbox and the other into your router or modem.

Yeah, after googling a bit it doesn't seem like they do (and the whole USB thing seems to be out of the question, too). I can't afford buying an adapter, but I'll look into the ethernet cable thing you suggested. Thanks so much for the info!

The newer ones do. I complety forgot that my old white one I had to use the lan cable.
