omg I could have written this in my sleep. Just. adding to this. You know the one thing that is always guaranteed in SPN? That Sam and Dean, and their relationship, will always be the focal point and a massive part of the show.

This means 1) THERE IS NO REASON TO BE SO FUCKING INSECURE JESUS CHRIST THEY CAN HAVE OTHER FRIENDS IT DOESN'T MEAN THEY LOVE EACH OTHER ANY LESS

and 2) The worst possible thing that could happen to them? Is their relationships getting stale, boring, and repetitive. Like, oh, in S7 (started off great, and they had their moments but overall? We've seen it all before, and done better at that.)

Which is why I personally am loving the comic-con spoilers. Holy shit, conflict, character growth, it's about fucking time.

I'm excited for the spoilers, but, NGL, the wankspolsion from certain sects of the fandom over them has given me more glee than the show ever possibly could. It's delicious.

Oh, their relationship in S7 was. so. damn. dull. That's what you killed Cas and Bobby for? To put me to sleep?

OMG, right???

I was got sidetracked into reading some spoilers from last years comicon yesterday and Gamble kept going on about how killing Cas was going to open up all these new and exciting storylines and I just sat there shaking my head. There was nothing, NOTHING about season 7 that wasn't an epic failure on the part of the show runners (I'm including Bob Singer in this because I suspect he's a HUGE part of the problem).

(Honestly, I could have forgiven a lot more of last season if they had simply kept Misha as the head Leviathan. In him, the Leviathans were creepy and crazy and awesome, and the leviathan connection to the brothers would have been more tangible.)

Yessss this. I want to know which leviathan was talking when they first took over Cas, because the, uh, minute or so we saw of that guy was interesting. And awesome. The least they could have done was stretch the megalomania thing for a few episodes, if they didn't want to work with leviathan!Cas at all.

And ok, I loved Death's Door. It made me tear up and the whole "yeah well I was an awesome father-figure anyway so fuck you" thing and the memories with the brothers all gave me lots of feelings, for lack of a better term. That was a good send-off for a side-character that important.
