I think this is very normal. I didn't have a very strong relationship with my grandfather either. I didn't dislike him or anything, but we never had a real conversation about anything ever. Most of my memories are of him telling me and my little brother to be quiet or to go outside and play.

He died of congestive heart failure when I was in college. I certainly didn't want him to suffer or to die, and I certainly didn't want my daddy or the rest of my family to be sad. But I didn't feel any great sadness myself. I didn't really know the man.
