I can't find any info on when or why raising chickens was made illegal in my city. I'm probably using the wrong keywords. My guess is that all farm animals (including chickens) were banned for health and safety reasons when the city modernized and urbanized itself. In fact, some people think legalizing backyard chicken will lead to the re-introduction of other farm animals like pigs and cows, so that is one of their arguments against backyard chickens.
