In my case, I thought Sandman was good, loved Good Omens (but probably more for the Pratchett mix), but when it comes too his novels I have weird mixed feelings. I love the concepts behind them, and some of the secondary characters are so cool, but the pacing is annoying, the endings are blah, and his adult protagonists are too bland and archetypal* to care about them. It disappoints me because the ideas are so good but the execution kills it for me. I enjoy his kiddie stories better, like The Graveyard Book, Coraline, and Odd and the Frost Giants.



* Look, an apparently normal male dude gets dragged into a fantasy setup and protests a lot, but in the end he was ~special~ all along and stays in cool land! Again!
