Not gonna lie, Karen Gillan is always the first person I think about when I think of Lily.

Karen Gillan is actually closer to my idea of Ginny, after seeing her be tomboy-ish in Doctor Who. Her hair is also quite a brighter shade of red compared to my idea of Lily's auburn. (I've cast the younger version of Aislín McGuckin as Lily because oh god she was quite headstrong in The Nephew.)

Ehh, I don't really agree with any of your marauders. But sometimes I do wonder what the series would have been like if Tim had taken the role of Snape instead of doing Planet of the Apes. (Somehow I think there would have been a lot more Sirius/Snape from the fandom...)

Pretty sure there's a lot of places that still care about Harry Potter. Hogwarts Elite (http://www.livejournal.com/~hogwarts_elite) and Hogwarts is Home (http://www.livejournal.com/~hogwartsishome) just to name a few.

I really don't think it's a fandom that's ever going to truly die.

It's been a while since I was in HP, but I find it hard to believe there isn't a crazy marauders fandom somewhere :) I hope you find it OP!

Yeah, I don't agree with this dreamcast either. I actually think that the cast we got was decent, if a tad too old, maybe. Just google some pics from when Oldman, Rickman and Thewlis were younger.

James: I don't have anyone for that, but I might go with Andrew Garfield. People really want him to be a Marauder (from what I can tell) but he's not a Remus. And he does look a bit like the guy who played the grown-up version in the movies.

Sirius: Ben Barnes, aka the OP's James. It's the one casting choice people have managed to convince me of.

Remus: Arthur Darvill, aka Rory from DW. Remus isn't supposed to be classically handsome, he's supposed to be so nice and smart that we see him as such. Plus, Darvill has that slightly fragile and exhausted look that would fit lycanthropy.

Peter: I don't know, but he has to be chubby. That's one of the few things we know about him, that he was rather short and chubby. People seem to remember the short bit, but forget the chubby part.

Snape: Don't know, I actually thought they got him right in the flashback. Though we don't know how well that kid could act of course.

Lily: Karen Gillan is a good choice and I can't think of a reason why she wouldn't be, and yet I'm not convinced. I suppose it would depend on who would be cast as Snape and James.

I have to say I lost interest in the fandom until I went to London and took the Harry Potter studio tour which brought back all the memories I had growing up with Harry Potter and the movies.

It's not as active as it used to be, but it's still out there.

God, can you imagine if he'd picked that instead of Planet of the Apes? I feel like the entire landscape of my life would be different. And Jon Snow as Remus! Can't say I ever thought of that, but I guess he does do sad-panda very well. And is that the guy from Misfits as Sirius?!

I don't know who any of these people are (I'm actually usually pretty happy with the casts that are already in the movies) but I would assure you that the HP fandom is alive and kicking. I was reading a lot in it in 2011 and 2010; there is a LOT of material that came out after the final book and you are really missing out if you stopped looking at the fandom & fanworks before book seven even came out!

OP, I can guarantee you that the Harry Potter fandom is one that will never truly die.

It mightn't be as lively as it once was, now that the films and books are over, but to many people, it's been a big part of their childhoods.

It'll be like the Star Wars/Star Trek/LOTR fandoms - the nostalgia will keep it running.
