Considering some of the names I've seen in real life (I literally know a guy who named his kid Mage), Thor and Loki don't actually seem that weird to me in AU stories.

Mage? Why mage of all things? If you're going to give your kid a fantasy name, at least don't make it a generic class name, geez.

I have a friend named Mage! The guy's an adult, so different. But hey.

My niece and nephew are named Alucard and Yunaleska. I hate my brother.

I went to high school with twin girls named Margarita and Daiquiri, and I used to work with a guy named Darth. My best friend in college had a roommate named Gazelle, and I heard about a guy who named his kid Espn (after the sports network). My nephew has a little girl in his class named, I shit you not, Codeine.

People name their kids weird shit all the time. All things considered, Thor and Loki are pretty normal.

I would be so pissed at my parents if they named me after an analgesic or a channel wtf these poor souls.

Yeah, I didn't believe it at first when my nephew told me. We were having his fifth birthday party at my apartment because my complex has a pool, and he was telling me all of the kids he wanted to invite to his party. But when he told me he wanted a girl named Codeine to come, I was like "wat." I thought he was mispronouncing his little friend's name, but nope, that's her legitimate legal name. Cute kid, really, but I feel so bad for her. She's going to go through life with everyone doing a double-take when they hear her name.

Margarita is the Spanish form of Margaret, which the drink was named after. So I don't see any problem with that.

Are you sure Gazelle wasn't Gisele?

The thing that stuck with me about Margarita was that her twin sister was named Daiquiri. I probably wouldn't have batted an eye at that if it wasn't for that juxtaposition.

I used to work with a woman named Princess.

My brother was very close to being named Thor after the superhero. If my father had agreed, he would have been named Thor. I see no problem with it as a real name.

There was a set of brother-sister twins in my high school named Mister and Miss.

That would be cool only if they got their PhDs. Then they could be Doctor Mister and Doctor Miss.

I've got an uncle named Pinky (legal name, yep), twin aunts named Weeta and Frita, and an aunt named Lethe.

I've met a woman named Doxie, which is a particularly unfortunate choice as it's a term for a prostitute.

There is someone in our system at work (patron) with the name of Mister. And another named, I kid you not, Erotica.
