Although I still have not to this day beaten Oblivion (sad, I know), I love these games! Especially FO3. New Vegas is amazing too of course, but I think overall I like the Capital Wasteland better than the Mojave. (I tend to like the companions in New Vegas more though, and probably the majority of the characters in general.)

The writing is better in New Vegas, but the CW is overall a more interesting place because there's much more to it. The Mojave's a bit empty.

I happened to like the writing in FO3, but I do agree. And trekking across the Mojave is a real pain in the ass sometimes because of how huge and barren it can be. The Capital Wasteland felt so much more alive imo.

The writing in FO3 is typical Bethesda -- a range between really good and pretty bad, with a lot of decent stuff in the middle. The main quest isn't that great, but some of the others -- like Oasis -- were wonderful. The Pitt is where the writing really shines, though.

Well, I might be a little biased towards FO3 because it had Liam Nesson...and I love me some Nesson. It was overall pretty predictable but that didn't stop me from loving it. The Pitt was terrifying for me but one of the more exciting parts of the game.

I loved the grey-ness of the Pitt, and how you got no Karma backlash regardless of what course you went with. But I really hated how in the main game your dad is basically this holy martyr of goodness, for me it makes the game feel biased towards you playing a good character, whereas you don't get that in New Vegas at all. And you can go through New Vegas without encountering the Brotherhood/can wipe out the Brotherhood. Because although I love the Fallout games and settings, I really can't stand the Brotherhood. Fuck you Sarah Lyons.

And fuck Three Dog too. >B[

+1 to this. The Capital Wasteland was just more interesting to me. Also, I found the omnipresence of the Legion plot kind of oppressive in F: NV--it didn't seem like there was anywhere I could go to get away from it. It even followed you into the DLC.

I think that's what makes the different. The CW is a wild, anarchic backwater, home to a dozen little fiefdoms and small towns trying to eke out a living. The Mojave is a military-occupied territory near the front lines of a war.

The Legion crap did not interest me at all. I could tell they were really trying to make me think Vulpes was a ~fascinating character and all, but I put it down after the first encounter with him and have had no desire to play it since.

Actually, you only meet Vulpes twice or so and he's pretty easy to kill if you don't like him. He's a total dickweed and not very essential to the story, so just kill him and keep on playing. If you time it right you can follow him from Nipton and watch the Camp Searchlight NCR patrol wipe out him and his recruits while you sit back and laugh. That's what I did. Twice, because it was so fun.
