99.9% of "scary" movies make me LOL because they're either cheesy or they scare other people and that makes me laugh. This is why I am so ashamed to admit that I stumbled upon a movie that finally won: The fucking Grudge. NEVER. AGAIN. I went cold every time my cat growled for at least a month. /shameface

Oh, man, I watched the Japanese versions of that and its sequel back to back one evening, had nightmares about horrible evil small children with black eyes and white faces, and then had to teach my weekly kindergarten class the next day (this is relevant, because this was in Japan). Oh, that wasn't creepy at ALL.

Also you know those sliding-door closets? Yeah, one in my bedroom and in my living room, in that apartment, with the same appropriately placed shelf and the floors in both rooms were tatami, which really did not help, Jesus fuck.

But it was more sad and less creepy when I rewatched it, so. :(

Bizarre anecdote time!

I watched the Japanese version of The Grudge a couple of years back and, like you, had nightmares about it afterward about horrible ghosts coming to get me... except I half woke up from it and then my dreamy mind became absolutely convinced that my pet catfish can, in fact, eat ghosts.

As stupid as that may sound, it made about as much sense as ghosts coming after me, and to this day it remains a good deterrent against illogical fears that I occasionally develop, haha.

That's AWESOME. "YES! MY FISH WILL SAVE ME!" Best thing ever, seriously, I love it.

OH SO THIS. I'm a Malaysian so Asian horror movies are pretty easy to come by here. However, I will NOT EVER WATCH JU-ON even if you pay me a million ringgit! I don't remember what version it is, but I distictly remember a bloody person holding up a bloody foetus in a bloody phone booth... *shudders*
