Anyone else start reading The Msscribe Story after yesterday's secret?

(Anonymous) 2012-07-24 11:20 pm (UTC)(link)
That shit was *fascinating*. I was reading it non-stop until I had to go to bed, and then today I was actually reading it on my phone under the table while at work. I could barely concentrate on my job.

Can anyone tell me what eventually happened with Ms. Scribe? I mean, did she eventually own up to all those sockpuppets?

I read it a while back, but now I'm retreading it. It's great.

I started reading it a while back, I think there should be a soap opera made after it xD

Yes, I did! It's long though, and my attention span was short and I was writing something, so I didn't get through it. It IS fascinating though. Ms. Scribe is a piece of work (and, honestly, so were those other people!)

I don't know what happened with her, but I have an RP friend and her ff.net name is Mistress Scribbles and I got paranoid for a few minutes yesterday before remembering that my friend isn't a ball of scary.

If you're asking whether she ever said, "Yes, X and Y and Z are all me," I don't believe she ever did, at least not in public. I don't think she's active in fandom anymore, either. I guess she could still be active under a different identity, but she doesn't seem the type to stay interested if she can't be a BNF as herself.

I got nostalgic and started re-reading it for the fourth time or so :)

Yes! I had started reading it a few years ago, but never got all the way through. Finally finished it today.

Ugh. Just ugh. It is just appalling to me to think that grown ass woman would act in this way. With all of the evidence against Ms. Scribe, it baffles me to think that she would get ANY defenders.

And then I made myself rage more by re-reading the Cassandra Clare plagiarism account.

My love of ridiculously outdated wank simultaneously keeps me amused and outraged.

(And also makes me simultaneously pleased and disappointed that I wasn't in fandom at all around that time. Sigh. I miss all the best wank...)

Currently I'm reading a huge thing about Cassandra Clare, so I'll read about Msscribe next, since I'm interested in this stuff right now.

The plagiarism thing, right? Yesterday I actually thought that's what the secret was talking about because I mixed them up.

HP fandom back in the day is one of the scariest fucking things I've ever read about. And I was neck deep in Twilight fandom at one point.

(What freaks me out is that the whole "Inner Circle" thing so reminds me of a group in the early TW fandom. They all went to the same convention, ran the Big Sites and spoke to Stephenie Meyer personally. I don't think they realized how much they were hated until Breaking Dawn came out and they -- as "friends of the author" -- found themselves in the impossible position of trying to defend that book. Their whole fandom careers were predicated on having inside information, but that just meant that they knew what was coming and didn't warn anyone. Or well, that's how the fandom took it. I don't honestly think SM let any of them know what was in the last book, not even the head/CC-esque figure that was her personal friend.)

Yeah, I started reading it too, but I'm only about 1/3 of the way through- I had to go to work and my boss was around all day so I couldn't just read through my shift, but holy shit, it's like the television dramas my mom likes so much.

I read through the whole thing... and tbh, it scared me a little.

I mean- this shit was all online. But can you imagine what would happen if someone like Msscribe manipulated and orchestrated events IRL?
Can you imagine the longlasting damage she's doing to the people around her?

*shudders* I would NOT want her for a mother.
