I get that, anon. I started watching it here recently, and honestly, I really like it. All I want to do is talk about characters (Bolin, who I love, Lin, who I love, etc.), the new stuff we're seeing (metalbending cops! cars that look like little palaquins!), the martial arts styles they're drawing from, what we think is going to go on in the second season, etc.

And then all I find is wank about how Korra sucks because she dares have a crush on a "bad boy", or blahblahblah. Fuck that noise, I'll go find some grown-ups to play with.

...Anyone want to talk about what they think the long-term effects of the Equalists and the reaction by Tarrlok could have on the non-Equalist, non-benders with his extreme reactions? Or how Republic City seems to have no representative for itself, kind of like how Washington D.C. is treated in the United States? Anyone?

Umm, that's why people are annoyed at the whole 'Korra sucks because she dares have a crush on a "bad boy"'. It's not that she has a crush on a bad boy; it's that a whole bunch of the series' attention was focused on that crush, therefore causing those questions you brought up to not be explored in the depths that could've raised the series from entertaining to truly great. They raised all these interesting questions about the equalists and their motivations, but after episode four and the rise of the love quadrangle drama they got shoved to the side in favor of Korra = good, Amon/Equalists = bad; defeat your problems by punching them head on.

Ah, I love the Korra fans who blow things out of proportion/exaggerate to excuse their bitching. There was one shipping episode. That was it. One. The larger portion of the show was not focussed on Korra's crush. Hell, it didn't even come up again until episode ten.

I think that the rift between benders and non-benders is still going to be there - and that it's not going to be easy to mend. In part because there has been a lot of trust broken by the rebellion, and I don't see this being a position where the winners are going to forgive too easily, and in part because the Equalists weren't really *wrong*. Their methods, and how they were going about things were both wrong and extreme...but what they were upset about? Not so much.

Which means that the one major drawback to the equalists losing is that the issues that lead to that are probably going to be pushed back under the rug because it *is* tied directly to the equalists. So I think, long term, things are going to be going back to the status quo for a long time before anything changes...Which really sucks for all the non-benders since, from what I remember seeing, you have to either be a bender, or strongly connected to one, to be able to get very far in that world.
