There's a fandom I got into in 2002, discovered immediately that the ship I loved was way secondary to a horrible shittier ship I hated, and I waged bitter shipwar at the time and then raegquit, lurked once more, and raegquit again a few times over the years.

So I was pretty surprised last year when I ended up literally fapping over the ship I hate. I kindof have a soft spot for it now. It just took the right writer. One who brought out all the lust and the complications in it rather than playing it for lazyass OOC fixit fluff. I'm wondering about writing fic of it myself now, except that what I want to do with it is dubcon and the fans are going to kill me.

I kind of hate fix-its. They usually feel forced to me.

I agree, especially in this case. Often fix-its are essentially fans saying they wanted canon to be different...which is a downer for those of us who actually LIKE how things went in canon and appreciated the part that other fans are trying to fix. I've seen this so many times, but this particular one just infuriates me. Mostly due to butthurt shipwank, I admit - the other fans want to undo the horrible events without which my ship would never have become canon, just so they can write fluff for another pairing. :/
