The query yesterday about female characters' origin stories got me thinking. What are some male characters who were trained or instructed by women (like the trope where an action heroine was trained by her father or a father figure)? Do any come to mind?

The first one that comes to mind are Ed & Al being trained by Izumi in FMA.

That's all I got.

Hit Girl in Kick Ass comes to mind. One of Batman's mentors was Lady Shiva.

Dick Grayson was partially trained and instructed by Barbara Gordon.

movie!Captain America was instructed by Peggy Carter.

Roy Harper had some training from Black Canary, but mostly from Green Arrow.

Emma Frost trained a whole bunch of mutants, but I don't know if it counts seeing as the focus is usually more on her than her students.

Geez, this genre really needs a dose of damn variety...

In the Metal Gear Series, Jack (Big Boss) is completely obsessed with his female mentor/instructor. MGS3 is all about this plotline and it's really well-handled.
