people who legit think slash is ~taking over~ make me laugh hard

To be fair, a lot of fandoms are so saturated with slash that it's difficult to find anything else (speaking as someone who reads primarily gen). On the other hand, people write what they want to write, and no amount of whining is ever going to change that.

There's also the little matter of the fact that fandom is pretty much the only outlet for slashficcers to get their slash on, so there is a lot of demand for it. I love gen, too, but nearly everything I read and watch outside of fandom is gen, so I don't have nearly as strong a desire to seek it out in fandom.

Yeah, you're right. That's one of the many reasons why I will never understand het shippers who think that all slashers have declared war on het or something stupid like that.
