Whaaaaaaaaaaaat? I get that some fandoms are more slash-oriented (while others are het; I'm sure there are some femslash ones too) but...het fic is always going to exist - it isn't about to blink out of existence. Same as slash. If you don't like it don't read it, but being ~near~ slash fic will not hurt you (it existing won't either). Geez.

To be fair, a lot of fandoms are so saturated with slash that it's difficult to find anything else (speaking as someone who reads primarily gen). On the other hand, people write what they want to write, and no amount of whining is ever going to change that.

I know what you mean. I do ship some het, but whenever I go look for it, I keep stumbling on crazies. They're no worse than diehard slashers, but they're kind of weirdly rude about the whole thing. Like slash is somehow disgusting, which smacks a little of homophobia.

And a majority like het shouting about oppression kinnnnnnddddd of looks like privilege. Jut a teensy-bit.

I like keeping the fandoms I ship slash in and fandoms I ship het in faaaar removed from eachother because I'm a baby about my OTPs ("Wha?? You like Peter/Lincoln?? But we agreed about Steve/Tony! How can you NOT be a Peter/Olivia fanperson??")

Seriously though, hetficopalis? Most of western media has been het for a very long time; you het writers can share the internet with the slashers. It won't kill you.

Although, I do wish some fandoms did have more het. I didn't realize how much slash I was reading until I stumbled upon a het PWP the other day and said to myself "het sex, now there's a thing I haven't seen in a while."
