I completely agree with this analysis. I think Tony might have been closer to a Republican pre-Iron Man, but after being held hostage by his own weapons and seeing first-hand what the government has been doing? Not so much a Republican anymore.

Yeah, exactly. I could see him being a Republican in the past -- even if it was just because that's how his family voted, that's what he's used to, they support more war and more weapon sales and that's good for the company and keeps the shareholders off his back while he does actual work thank you. But after what happened in Afghanistan, etc. I can see him taking a good hard look at the Republican party and realizing that he doesn't like what he sees at all.
