how short are trimmed pit and pube hairs supposed to be?

I just cut it as short as I dare, personally, because the idea of sharp objects near there makes me nervous.

is a third of an inch too short? my arm is getting prickled

what do I do?

I shave my armpits because I find it more confortable. If I don't, I get itchy and it can get worse when sweat is involved. The hair also retains more sweat, so it'd be advisable for you to shave if you sweat a lot. When the hair's growing back, I don't find it itchy and I have almost no ingrown hairs there, but I know that's not the case with everybody.

For these same reasons of confort, I don't shave my pubes (really sensitive skin, so it's better off protected). It gets itchy as hell when they grow back, and ingrown hairs are SUCH A FUCKING PAIN to deal with. I keep it trimmed.

Basically, you can try it out how being hairless on these areas feels. It'll grow back soon, so if you don't find it confortable, you can always go back :)

If you are going to shave any of these areas, even if it's just once to see how it feels without hair, be careful! Use a good razor (so that you won't need to go over the same area again and again, and increase the chances of getting cut or irritated) and wet and soap up the area first, so that you don't get the skin irritated. It's the same principle that guys use for shaving their face: put some soap or foam between the blade and you and all should be fine and dandy. Also, if you want to shave your pubes, BE EXTRA CAREFUL. Use a mirror to see where the blade is at all times and go really slow.

With this sort of things, you find out what's best for you after trial and error. There are also creams for cutting the hair without razors, but they can act up on sensitive skin and may not be safe for use on your pubes, so read all labels carefully and first try them on the inner fold of your elbow. There are also machines that pluck the hairs and you don't need to shave so often, but I find that these promote ingrowth when your hair's too thin.

You're welcome :) Keep the scissors clean, and if you eventually shave, also the razor. Washing them with water and then rubbing them with alcohol does wonders for preserving the blades and preventing rust from forming (which would happen if you only used water).

I've never measured it, honestly, but closer to my genitals area I don't cut it too short for fear of an accident, but a third of an inch sounds more or less like what I do for the rest.

I think most of us learn this through trial and error, don't worry!

The length is up to you.

Think about a beard for example - how short does it have to be for it to be comfortable against skin, how short does it have to be to look good? Now apply those same rules to your pubes, and you're off to a good start.

Just go with what's good for you.

okay I never done this before so I trimmed my pubes a bit and it seems fine but my sissors are shit and I can't cut my left pit hair with my right hand at all

and I can't get at it with my left hand so I have long pit hair on one side and short pit hair on the other side fuck

oh and I think my right pit hair is too short my arm is getting pricked

Shave your pits and trim your pubes. The length is absolutely up to you.

Part of being pricked is not the length but the fact that the hair has been cut - the ends will be prickly for a day or two and will probably bother you even if the hair is longer. I also advocate shaving pits. I don't find it irritating at all, and if you don't mind having some hair you don't have to shave that often.

I'm not sure this is the right answer, but I'm guessing whatever lenght you're are confortable with.
