So K-Pop gets a bad rep for being extremely superficial. Which is true. It is. But at the same time it's so much more diverse than the West in a lot of ways. You would probably never see a guy with as bandy of legs as Chanyeol has be considered really attractive, or "the pretty one" with a nose as magnificently hooked as Ren's. There's so much unconventional teeth in K-Pop there could be a whole secret just about teeth. And even though East Asia has a big hangup about eye creases, you still get guys like Onew who are really popular and considered attractive even though his eyes almost disappear when he smiles. And then there are Idols like Bang Yong Guk who would never be considered conventionally attractive, who manage to be extremely sexy through sheer force of personality.

S!B I like all of these guys way more because of these traits. And when you're a white girl, saying "I really like guys with monolid eyes" sound like exoticism. I'm not dehumanizing them, I just think they're pretty! Even though I have double-lidded eyes, my eyes disappear when I smile too. It's one of the first times I've liked people who look a lot like me.

It's awkward to talk about.
