(Anonymous) 2012-07-26 02:42 am (UTC)(link)I honestly never saw it coming and am a little baffled by people saying that it was so obvious and the lead up to it was seen by everyone, but I've resigned myself to the fact that I just don't get some relationship dynamics and that fictional characters are not worth getting into fights over.

I saw them coming too, but I hated it. But that's because I hate the trope that "fighting constantly, even meanly, means they want to screw/are in love."

(Anonymous) 2012-07-26 03:09 am (UTC)(link)I mean, kudos to the couples irl that can vent their frustrations through moderated bickering and discussions without hurting each other, that takes self-control, self-awareness and knowing each other's limits very well, but having seen the dark sides of both extremes, that kind of thing makes me uncomfortable. (Like, bottling everything up because the other person can't take criticism and then have it all explode when they just can't take it anymore because one or both of them don't know how to talk things through and accept fault in themselves in order to make amends and compromise vs couples that use any excuse to belittle the other and let out every single thing they found annoying about the other while aiming to hurt.)
I mean, I can tolerate that trope if it's written well or at least it's not the focus of the story, but I can't say I like it.
