Kpop is superficial, modern South-Korean society period puts way too much emphasis on looks. Sad but incredibly true facts. It's not just idols who get plastic surgery and diet dangerously just to stay thin - it's a lot of young people in Korea.

These facts don't change because you find some aspects of your favourite idols unconventional. (And single-lids are indeed more accepted on guys, because it's a feminine beauty ideal that girls' eyes should be big.) Most stars have had plastic surgery, and their look is carefully designed by the entertainment companies. Their hair doesn't dye itself crazy colours.
