I don't much about K-Pop beyond what I get by osmosis through my friend, but I'll say this: the fandom, at least, might not not be superficial, but it's craaaaazy obsessed in a detail-oriented kind of way.

As in, saying you could write a whole secret about teeth? Nothing wrong with that, but most fans in most fandoms wouldn't notice that stuff. Sure, there's assholes on ontd who'll talk about a celeb's bandy legs as if that makes them (the poster) better than the celeb, but most people really couldn't care less. K-Pop fans seem to have the most specific tastes when it comes to appearances, and it baffles me.

Again, not to say I look down on anyone for noticing someone's eye creases or whatever, whatever's fun for you. But for me, it's this rather than the "superficial" aspect that is baffling.
