Am I the only one that is fascinated by reading old internet arguments?

I bring this up because of the secret a few days ago about the Ms.Scribe story, and since then I've been reading through the old wanks on Fandom Wank Wiki's famous wanks page. I feel like this is really unhealthy, but I can't stop, it's so interesting! D:

No, I like it too. It's weirdly fascinating, kind of like watching reality TV.

Two or three days and I'm still hung up on the MsScribe story. I started going through fandomlore and other peoples' reactions just to capture what that time on the internet was like. I still feel like I can't really conceive of the hugeness that was Cassie Clare's BNF-dom.

Extend that to old drama in general and you have my fascination with this utterly insane series of threads on MTS long before I ever joined. Long story short, girl invents the most ridiculously miserable personal life ever, puppets about seven different accounts in order to keep up the illusion that people actually believe her once it starts getting really out-there, comes up with about three different justifications for it when caught...it's a train wreck.

There's just something about them that's so captivating.

YANA. It's like watching recent history to me, only better because every single word and interaction is preserved. I feel fascinated by the fact that we're able to actually track something so immediate and spontaneous as this very thread so many years later. It's like an incredibly detailed snapshot of a community at a specific time.

I fucking love internet drama, particularly if I'm looking at it from the sidelines.

I just made a short visit there. Geez, so much wank! It is rather fascinating to read up on all this because I was in no way ever active in the HP fandom, aside from occasionally visiting Mugglenet to read some news. I just found out ten minutes ago that Cassandra Claire was the creator of the LOTR Very Secret Diaries. I remember laughing at the ones I read, which weren't a lot since I wasn't active in the LOTR fandom either. LOL Wow, and reading up on CC, I can see why she has such a negative rep. Never read any of her other works, however.

Revisiting old internet wankery is a fantastic pastime. It's a whole history of batshit silliness and drama. Who WOULDN'T enjoy reading that kind of stuff? Especially with how ridiculous it can get.

The Ms.Scribe story is fascinating on so many levels.

Man, you are making me nostalgic. I used to be riveted to Fandom Wank and I read entries from before my time. Sadly Fandom just doesn't wank as entertainingly anymore. The last thing I read there was Rak's disintegration in the Sherlock fandom, but that was more painful and sad than funny.

Not at all! It is literally one of my favorite pasttimes :D Some of them are so hilarious I wind up literally doubled over and paralyzed with laughter. My personal favorite wanks ever are mostly the shipwars in Harry Potter and Avatar: The Last Airbender. ;)

I read Crystalwank, aka The Great Wank of '04, aka The Wank That Ate The Universe, aka The One Wank To Rule Them All, in its entirety, both journal links AND comments-kerfuffle. I regret nothing, for it's ridiculousness is art. Know you nothing of art?

I also read a good 1/3 of all the wanky entries listed under RaceFail '09 on fanhistory. Look at it

I believe I have read all the working links in at least half of all Buffy wanks, Doctor Who wanks, and Avatar: The Last Airbender and Legend of Korra wanks that have been logged on fandom_wank wiki, fandom_wank, fanlore, and fanhistory.

But none of them have ever, or will ever, compare to Harry Potter. Than fandom is The Fandom To End All Fandoms. And The MsScribe Story is its crown jewel.

My favorite source for wanks is still fandom_wank on journalfen. The comm is dying, but the tags are really excellent for narrowing the wanks down to the exact flavor of spooge you want to experience.

Internet arguments are great! I once spent an afternoon reading a bizarre Wikipedia war between a creepy dude obsessed with 'traumatic masturbatory syndrome' and sensible Wikipedia editors.

Are you kidding? I archive that shit. Like, I copy/paste it into Word Documents and make a note of who said it and where.

I especially love finding wank for fandoms that I joined late. The Teen Titans fandom had some priceless vintage kvetching back in the day.
