Boondock Saints - Rocco

Watching this again with a friend and I mentioned that a pretty much knew Rocco would die the moment he accidentally killed the cat and that while I had a inkling from everything in the strip club but that the cat sealed it for me. He stared at me like I was crazy and starting going on about how Rocco's death was a COMPLETELY SURPRISE and how could you see it coming and he still can't believe they killed off such an awesome character.

I sort of boggled at him because really the only thing that surprised me was that it wasn't one of the Saints that killed Rocco in the end.

Was this a case of me reading too much into the movie (and giving Duffy too much credit) or is my friend right?

OMG I'm not the only one that thought Connor or Murphy would wind up killing Rocco? I liked Romeo so much better, he fit in better with the Saints, Rocco got a pass for all his shit because Connor and Murphy loved him like a brother.

WHOA, bad case of spoilers there. Warn people or something, ffs.
But yeah, I knew he'd get done in. Probably as a scapegoat for the Saints, I thought, but anyway I was convinced the mafia would get rid of him. He just knew too much and was too careless.

The movie came out in 1999? I don't think anyone is obligated to use spoilers for something that old.

I think I was actually kinda surprised, but I can't really remember. I guess I just thought "it's a [dark] comedy; nothing bad will happen to the people we like." But maybe not. Mostly I was just horrified at myself for laughing so, so hard at "is it dead?!" I'm a diehard animal lover, but that SLAYED me.

I roared from laughter, and I love cats... I'm probably a bad person. The 'I can't believe what just fucking happened' part gets me every time. Also, the entire 'I thought it'd bring closure to our relationship' dialogue was hilarious.

Wow, he actually as a Karma Houdini type of guy. He's so fucking sleazy that him getting away with everything he did would affirm the Grey and Gray morality of the move. Thankfully this wasn't the case, the morality or Rocco. I was praying that he would die shortly after he showed up.

IN HINDSIGHT, I don't know why I thought that.
