Standard American English. I'm boring, okay?

Me too (well, Canadian) and I'm a minority among people I know. Kind of embarrassing :\

Hey, you're actually not! Question for you: what regional variants of English are easier for you to understand and identify? I mean, we all roughly know British English sounds way different than American *Captain Obvious here*, and I think I can kind of identify an Australian accent, but get me out of those broad classifications and I'm hopelessly lost no matter how much I try to tune my ear to them =_= I suppose it's like Spanish for me, where there are some very identifiable variants (Spanish from Spain or Mexico, for example, sound very distinct to me) but there are some accents where I go 'wha..?' and I actually wonder if we speak the same language since I can't understand a thing, hehe.

Funny story, American-English now is closer to the English spoken back in the day than British English is now. The accent, or rather, the one most often associated with 'British-English' was created by the upperclass to differentiate themselves from the lower classes. Of course that caught on in the middle/poorer classes, and now it's pretty common.

You're not the only boring one here, don't worry. American English for me as well.

Me too!

Although I'm really comfortable with understanding a lot of dialects of English, actually. I've lived in a lot of places in the US, and I roleplay with people from the UK frequently and I write in fandoms based in the UK so I'm pretty decent with slang & other language differences from there too.

Also, due to roleplaying in real time my brain now automatically knows what time it is in London all the time.

I thought you were French the other day because of your username so I replied in French. I'm sorry :(
