In all seriousness, I've made my family care about the Olympics since I've been an avid fan since I was a toddler (and now almost 30). I wasn't even an athletic youngster. Of course, this meams that in 2016 I'll do whatever it takes to go to Rio as a spectator.

If people who hate the Olympics are wastes of skin, then the Olympics are a waste of money, resources, time, and effort. Billions of dollars and people all over the world working together for...sports? People competing to be the strongest and fastest for glory and shiny medals? Really? How about war, poverty, disease, environment, civil rights...?

A lot of people including me are just not into sports, OP. The Olympics are a great thing with the whole "Hey lets get together and not kill each other once in a while." idea. I'm not going to be watching however, because I don't care about any of the events, and I'd be bored out of my mind.

I'm British, and am refusing to switch on to any BBC channel until someone tells me the Olympics are over.

Except BBC4, since that seems to be sticking to its usual documentaries.

olympics doesn't interest me in any way whatsoever, but then again i have issues with a society that places so much stock in physical acumen over mental ability

My sister yesterday was complaining because there was only boring sports on. I'll have you know, coverage in Canada is pretty extensive with 3 channels showing different events as they are happening and they show replays of things that they did not show when there is no more events for the day.
