F!S Anon Meme (the Seventh, and now on DW!)

Secrets, rants, opinions, anything you want to say about your fandom or a fandom or fandom in general, do it here! Anonymously, of course. Get it all off your chest.

Some ground rules:
1. Going anon is encouraged but not absolutely required (for those who struggle with captchas and stuff).
2. No autoplaying/autolooping embeds, or embeds that cover/stretch the screen.
3. No dropping personal info or IRL contact info, etc.

That's about it, though!

I'll be linking some general/general-fandom threads I see so people don't repost new threads with the same stuff.

The Nightrunner series by Lynn Flewelling.

Most anything by David Feintuch.

The Front Runner by Patrica Nell Warren.

I actually bought the first book in the Nightrunner series a while back, but have yet to read it so I'll remedy that ASAP. I have The Front Runner as well (and have actually read it haha), but no David Feintuch! I read a Yuletide rec for his Seafort Saga last year or so, and I remember adding The Still to my to-buy-list a looong time ago.

Which one would you recommend I start with?

The Still is a good read, but I personally liked Midshipman's Hope more. That series does get pretty depressing as it goes on though, just in case angst isn't your thing.

I was doing okay with The Front Runner until she used the word "entrails" in an anal sex scene, and then I was just like, Nopenopenope. I never finished the book.

Yeah, I'll be honest: I didn't like The Front Runner. But it's one of those books that seen as a gay classic and everyone seems to love it, so I usually keep my mouth shut about that fact.

NGL, I can't stand Nightrunners.
