I can see Jack/Daniel, and tolerate that pretty well. BUT JOHN SHEPPARD AND RODNEY MCKAY WOULD NEVER WORK IN THE HISTORY OF HISTORY AND YOU SHOULD ALL JUST STOP RIGHT NOW AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

What? Seriously? I don't ship at all, and I actually agree with you that they don't work. However, people can ship what they want. How does it effect you that other people ship it? Just don't read.

I have to say I'm not too familiar outside of the John/Rodney show or Team!Sheppard fic, but omg the fandom produced some amazing stuff. I'm a little jealous thinking of the treasure that awaits you. Admittedly though a lot of it focuses on Sheppard and/or McKay.

I really-really-really (I mean: really) tried shipping Jack/Daniel back then, and in the "Jonas Quinn era" of the show the fic almost (almost!) half-convinced me. Then Daniel came back, and there was... nada. Didn't work for me.

Unfortunately McKay/Sheppard did. OK... not unfortunately. Those people out there writing SGA fic were/are amazing. Sorry: AMAZING, all block capital. (All that much sheer creativity in one place is still terrifying.)

And it all was nicely underlined by the change we saw in Rodney. How different was SG-1's McKay from SGA's McKay, how different was "early SGA's" McKay from "later SGA's". OK... I don't really know where I'm going with this.

I know it's frustrating to dislike one of the major pairings of a new fandom (I had this with NCIS and Gibbs/DiNozzo, it's hard to be a slasher there if you only ship Gibbs with anybody who's decidedly not DiNozzo, especially if you ship Gibbs/DiNozzo on your own, beautifully dysfunctional way), but it was (is? I'm not there anymore) a pretty big fandom with lots of other (yep, smaller, still) pairings.

I'm not saying it's easy to avoid McKay/Sheppard, because I'm sure it's not, but there are real gems (with other pairings) under those heaps of McShep fic worth digging for. Just.. you know... bring a shovel.
