F!S Anon Meme (the Seventh, and now on DW!)

Secrets, rants, opinions, anything you want to say about your fandom or a fandom or fandom in general, do it here! Anonymously, of course. Get it all off your chest.

Some ground rules:
1. Going anon is encouraged but not absolutely required (for those who struggle with captchas and stuff).
2. No autoplaying/autolooping embeds, or embeds that cover/stretch the screen.
3. No dropping personal info or IRL contact info, etc.

That's about it, though!

I'll be linking some general/general-fandom threads I see so people don't repost new threads with the same stuff.

Unpopular Ships
Obligatory Masturbation Thread
Fandoms you wish existed
How old are you?
What series have you always meant to watch/read/play/etc. but have never?
Time and location
Female-centric works
How do you feel about Tumblr?
Pet thread
Guilty pleasure thread
Favorite old shows
First fandom?

tell me about YOUR ship!

Hey FS! Here's something I've been curious about for a while. How many of you are in ships or in mutual liking arrangements with folks you like or having a thing with someone else? Do they know about you and fandom? Are they IN fandom? Inquiring minds (or mine, at least) would love to know!

I've been with my fiancé for eight years. He used to be in fandom in the '90's but he's doing different fannish things now. I'm a fic reader/ fandom lurker. We talk about fandom stuff, but I'm the one doing the most traditional fandom things nowadays.

...0_o Are you asking about our real-life romantic relationships?

I've been with the same person for eight years now. They have always known about my fandom life but don't like fanworks much themselves, so they don't read my fics or anything, but I always show them funny shit on FS if it's about a fandom they like.

I find the idea of being in a relationship with someone who doesn't know about your fandom life weird. I mean, why hide it from someone you care about that much? If you trust someone enough to date them then this shouldn't be an issue.

Hopelessly in love with someone who has a girlfriend :( The most frustrating part is that I know he's attracted to me. We both talked about it and of course decided it would be wrong to act on it. He seems very much in love with his girlfriend so I know I should forget him...but how?

i just had a huge argument with a friend i sort of crush on bad over the CFA/gay marriage thing (she's religious but always claimed to be open-minded...) and i don't think i crush on her anymore. :(

On behalf of all of us non-batshit-insane Texans, I apologize for the mass crazy goin' on down here. :-(

Yep. Unfortunately all us non-bigoted Texans get lumped in with the assholes. We apologize for the douchebags.

my very best irl friend is the whole reason i'm in fandom in the first place, so she knows. my sort-of/kind-of/maybe/i-hope-this-is-the-case girlfriend knows about fandom, but isn't really big into fiction herself. it's kind of fun being the one to explain the internet sometimes, though! =]

Getting married on Friday, our tenth anniversary. :)

I discuss fandom with him, usually the stuff that makes me inordinately happy or ragey, but I'm not a big participant, and he tends to avoid fandom altogether, so it doesn't come up often.

I've been with my boyfriend for seven years. He thinks fandom is for "weirdos," but he does know all about my fannish activities. I'm a "good weirdo." It bothers me sometimes but he never interferes with what I do or talks down to me for it, so whatever.

I've been married for nine years now, and my husband knows that I write slash fanfic and that I can get a little obsessed over things. It doesn't bother him though, as long as he doesn't have to see it, he doesn't care. XD

I'm in a relationship with another fandom person. Judging from this thread, that seems to be a bit unusual.

I used to joke with my bff that if we were in a fandom, people would ship us! (We both are into fandom, hardcore, usually the same ones.)

Er, so, now she's my girlfriend. ;P

I've been dating a guy who seriously considers himself to be a Pokemon Master for about six months now.

One half of my OTP - let's be lazy and call him Character A - has led a very lonely life. His only friend was killed in front of his eyes, which turned him from a shy, gentle young man into a frosty recluse, lost in grief. Character B is the one who brought him out of that, gave him a sense of strength and a new chance at friendship, and in return A has saved B's life multiple times, becoming hopelessly devoted to him.

The dynamic between them is rather odd, since A is charming but socially awkward, and declares his love for B in ridiculously flowery terms. B, on the other hand, has a much tougher exterior (though he's also very devoted to his close friends). But there's a sense of trust between them, and understanding that runs deeper than the surface. They have potential for a heartwarming relationship, where each supports the other and helps him grow, overcoming the problems caused by their pasts. Plus they're both dorks who've never had a real romance before, and somehow that makes it extra sweet to me.

And...this was meant to be in reply to the 'Tell me what you love most about your OTP' thread further down. Oh dear.

My gf and I have been together for six years. We're one of those lesbian couples who write fic together, ahaha.

My ex-girlfriend and I met through fandom, although we often didn't tell RL friends that. Although we broke up, she's still the person I talk to most about fandom stuff because we share pretty much all the same opinions. I may also still be pathetically in love with her. :(

I met my husband at a LARP. He's no longer much of a gamer, but he still collects anime and manga, watches Doctor Who with me, and very occasionally reads fanfic. We don't share many fandoms other than Doctor Who, but we'll occasionally point each other at fic or, more often, fanart that we think the other will like.

My friend-with-benefits (yes, they know about each other, and they're both okay with it; we're all poly) isn't big into fandom, but he reads Dresden Files message boards when he has time and will read fanfic if someone whose opinion he respects recommends it. We've taken him to a local literary SF/fantasy con, and he liked it, but not enough to want to go to one on his own - it's more a hanging-out-with-us thing.

The girl I occasionally flirt with introduced me to Harry Potter fandom, back in the long ago and far away. Alas, I only see her a few times a year, usually at cons, since she moved out of town for grad school. She's not as active in fandom as she used to be (see also: grad school) but she still occasionally writes and posts fic.

I have a hard time imagining having a relationship with someone who wasn't at least peripherally in fandom of some sort, even if they didn't do fic or art.

My best friend is willingly in the My Little Pony Fandom with me :D

. . .She tolerates my goings on about Sherlock.
