[ Anon Meme ]
Secrets, rants, opinions, anything you want to say about your fandom or a fandom or fandom in general, do it here! Anonymously, of course. Get it all off your chest.
Some ground rules:
1. Going anon is encouraged but not absolutely required (for those who struggle with captchas and stuff).
2. No autoplaying/autolooping embeds, or embeds that cover/stretch the screen.
3. No dropping personal info or IRL contact info, etc.
That's about it, though!
I'll be linking some general/general-fandom threads I see so people don't repost new threads with the same stuff.

(Anonymous) 2012-07-30 03:15 am (UTC)(link)Let me guess. You're a) twelve years old and b) actually believe the Bronies who claim that South Park "made up" the word derp and that it never existed before then. You know, in that episode in which a bunch of South Park dudes started saying "herp herp a derp" because they were supposed to SOUND LIKE THEY WERE RETARDED. Nope, that has nothing to do with mocking people with disabilities at all!
Here's a hint: "Derp" and "Derpy" were around for at least a decade before South Park used the word "derp."
Slang existed before the internet, you know.
And yes, "derp" originated as a term to mock people with disabilities.

What, this one? I'm not seeing the inherent slam against disabilities in a bunch of non-affected nonsense speech meant to mock the interchangeable stupidity of Rob Schneider movies.
Re: Yamino gonna make it worse again
(Anonymous) 2012-07-30 04:48 pm (UTC)(link)Look, when you want to mock somebody for always saying or doing the same thing, you use "blah blah blah" or "yadda yadda yadda" or whatever. But when you want to mock somebody and imply that they're a moron as well, you use "herrr derrr" or "herp derp" or "duuuuuhhhhhh". And why do we use that speech to imply that somebody's an idiot? Because that's also the speech used to mock and impersonate people with cognitive (and sometimes other) disabilities. So when you impersonate somebody with "herp derp" or "duuuuuhhhhhh" then it's the same as calling them retarded. Trey Parker and Matt Stone understand this. That's why they used "derp derp dumb" to mock Rob Schneider. That's why the joke works.
I can't believe I actually have to explain the jokes in South Park to somebody, but here we are.

(Anonymous) 2012-07-30 10:03 am (UTC)(link)Or are you gonna repeat the "it wasn't made up for you personally so it doesn't count"-bullshit anons did last time I said this?
Re: Yamino gonna make it worse again
(Anonymous) 2012-07-30 11:25 am (UTC)(link)Here's the joke: "Herp herp a derp" is how retarded people speak. That. was. the. joke.
It's a moot point anyway since "derp" existed long before South Park. But frankly I think it's alternatively hilarious and sad that so many butthurt Bronies are desperately trying to use South Park to argue that "derp" has nothing to do with disabilities when they're apparently too fucking stupid to even understand the joke that South Park was making.
