F!S Anon Meme (the Seventh, and now on DW!)

Secrets, rants, opinions, anything you want to say about your fandom or a fandom or fandom in general, do it here! Anonymously, of course. Get it all off your chest.

Some ground rules:
1. Going anon is encouraged but not absolutely required (for those who struggle with captchas and stuff).
2. No autoplaying/autolooping embeds, or embeds that cover/stretch the screen.
3. No dropping personal info or IRL contact info, etc.

That's about it, though!

I'll be linking some general/general-fandom threads I see so people don't repost new threads with the same stuff.

Seeing as how often people complain about them, I don't think you are.

I hate the word that's for sure.

I hate them a lot. And I hate how their fans act like everyone else is MEAN and HORRIBLE for not putting up with the poor abused woobies behavior. I have no sympathy for most of these characters and even when I do have some sympathy for what they might have experienced in the past I never think it means they should be allowed to get away with anything. Bad behavior is bad behavior and there is no excuse for it, period.

Yes. They're usually men and bad behavior of men in fandom is mostly excused and played down. Add in being a woobie and then that character is never responsible for their actions and anyone who goes against them is ~horrible and ~deserves to die.

Back when I was in TVD fandom, Damon was never called out for what he did and people like Bonnie were called a bitch when she did call him out. Christ, it's making me angry remembering it lol.

You're lucky you got out. It's still going strong. Everything is about Damon for these people and heaven help the poor soul who doesn't think the sun shines out Damon's ass. It's not his fault he's the way he is because no one has ever ~chosen him first or ~loved him the way he wants to be loved.

I'm okay with the concept, since I tend to get ridiculously attached to characters with ~Tragic~ back-stories and generally difficult lives, but the reality of it in fandom has left me pretty cold. For one thing, I find it really obnoxious to pretend that a person/character isn't responsible for his/her choices just because (s)he has been abused/been in a lot of bad situations/whatever. For another, half of the fandom-favourite woobies I run into really haven't had it any worse than the rest of the characters they share their stories with, and given that when you look at the difference between the fan-favourite woobie with his (it's almost always his, let's be honest) tragic, horrible, no good childhood and the (also mistreated) person he gets away with victimizing because of it, the woobie is often the whiter, maler one.
