Well, obviously there's a difference - but in terms of mythos, it's not like a huge discrepancy to me. Honestly I prefer it if a series tries new things than if it rehashed old themes over and over.

Like I said, the whole mythos of "ancient astronauts" to me has actually become an interesting mythos in and of itself, and to me that doesn't have to be any less "magical" than the Ark of the Covenant.
