A friend and I were both religious readers and occasional commenters back on seasons two and three. But after the fall out from Season Six with the mods being really abusive. We both left and didn't come back.

And now I wish I hadn't donated to help his LifeCycle, I'd rather give my money to someone who is less of a jerk.

It went down a couple of weeks ago. Check out the comments for his review of "Smashed" - or else just google "mark watches buffy site:livejournal.com" and you'll find a lot of it.

It was rather epic. Mark claimed that Spike abusing Buffy was the only way to read their sex scene in Smashed, and started yelling at people and banning them from his site when they disagreed.

At first I LOVED Mark Watches Buffy because I got into the fandom really late (5 years ago) and I never had anyone in IRL to share this massive and fantastic experience with so reading through his write-ups made me feel like I was watching it with a great, enthusiastic friend.

And then I realised that he couldn't review a SINGLE FUCKING EPISODE without going on and on ad nauseum about his various dysfunctional relationships. No one cares, dude. We're here for Buffy. And then his reviews were getting really vague and sometimes quite short. And this week I just found out that people are "donating" money for him to vid himself watching an episode...?! Who the fuck would fork out cash to see him go "omg omg *gasp*" AND THAT'S IT, FOR 40 FUCKING MINUTES?! He says nothing constructive ever on the videos. jfc

Mark is the fucking worst. He's a self-important douchebag who gets pissed anytime anyone disagrees with him and I'm pretty sure he's made up half of the shit he gives in his sob stories of his tragic life. And his circle-jerk mods don't help.

LOL! I haven't been around there in a REALLY long time, but in the middle of one of his "Mark Reads Harry Potter" chapter reviews, there was this thing at the back of my head going, "Wow, Mark has a lot of stories about how fucked up his life is. He couldn't have made them up, right?"

That's sad. I remember reading his "Mark Reads Twilight" blog. I don't quite remember how I found it, but I had a lot of fun reading it. Eventually, I became too lazy to regularly check up with him, but I guess I should be glad because from what I've seen on FS for quite awhile now, it seems like it's no longer that much fun anymore.

Ugh, I can't even with that right now. All the wank is what made it interesting, and it's so boring without it. And I get annoyed when I see anyone's bought a reaction video. WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT? His ego does not need to be fed, and no one needs to watch him OMG at stuff. Not okay. I kind of skim through it every once in a while, but mostly I just don't care.

I was keeping up with Mark Reads just because I reread Sandman recently, so it was interesting, but I can't with that either. Seeing him misunderstand basic plot points for weeks on end is just painful. When something is giving me secondhand embarrassment to read, it's time to step away.

I tried watching the Once More With Feeling video and got bored quickly. Never finished it. I think the donations go toward the AIDS charity he cycles for? idk

I skip his personal stories most of the time now. I just like to read the reviews because it's like watching the shows all over again. There are also a couple of people in the comments who are watching for the first time and I like to read their reactions.

Anyway, I missed the Spuffy wank and caught up after the fact. That's what this is about, right?
