Lol, my fandoms have always been this way. Soon all the complaining about the 'golden age' of Ao3 will happen and that'll be just as annoying as the OC fics.

It's already started. I've seen it multiple places, with multiple fandoms. It always makes me tilt my head and wonder what version of AO3 they were looking at before.

Oh I don't doubt it. I guess it's related to the same mythical ff.net people always go on about.

If it's a fic archive, it's probably going to have shitty fics. It's probably always had shitty fics, people usually just don't notice until there's more writers hanging around.

NA Ehhhh, I dunno. I definitely noticed an uptick in the number of self-insert-and-otherwise-terrible fics in the Avengers fandom right after the whole FFN thing went down, and I hadn't heard about the FFN thing yet, so I'm pretty sure it wasn't just me projecting my expectations. I distinctly remembering wtf was up.

Though these days there seem to be far, faaaaaar less of them, but that's probably just because my eyes and brain have adjusted to scrolling past.
