I, too, don't get why these two are the most popular characters. I guess I can see the appeal of Wolverine theoretically (though in all actuality he bores me) but Gambit? Every bit of coolness he has ever omitted came from his relationship with Rogue, IMO. He was just Rogue leftovers.

Speak for yourself, dude. I love Gambit but hated his relationship with Rogue. "Will they/won't they" tragic doomed "I want you but I can't be with you!" style romances drive me batty. I can't stand them. I love almost everything about Gambit outside of the Rogue connection though.

I'm with you on Wolverine though. Over-exposure for too long made the character dull for me. The only thing I've ever liked about him was the time in the 90s when he was a guardian of sorts for Jubilee.

Wolverine's canon yellow fever makes me think he was a pretty terrible choice of guardian for Jubilee.
