Oh for fucks sake. AO3 elitists should get off their goddamn high horses and quit whining about how the badfic writers are invading. The only reason AO3 used to have mostly good fic is because there was barely anyone on it. That's why FF.net has such a bad reputation; it has thousands of users, and more people means more crap drowning out the good stuff.

Yeah. Besides what I noticed from AO3 is that it had good fics and then fics that were so mediocre they just didn't qualify as bad.

Exactly! The larger an archive is, combined with how few guidelines there are for posting, can usually give an idea of how much bad fic it will have. Not to mention that the stuff the OP is talking about (OCs, rp fic) isn't inherently bad, just not what they specifically want to read.
