I'm not saying I think he is dead, I don't know whether he is or not, but I always side-eye people who say that he can't be because Clark Gregg is signed for more movies. That's not how it works. Being signed for a movie means the actor has to do it if he's asked, it doesn't mean the studio has to ask him. To name just two of the numerous examples; Tyler Mane and Ray Park were signed for three X-Men movies each, and they only did one. Toad was never used again, but Sabretooth was, and Mane was signed, and they still recast him despite the fact Mane wanted it.

On top of that, even if he does end up in future films, it doesn't mean that his scenes won't be flashbacks...

Oh god, I really want a Black Widow movie, or a SHIELD movie, that's set several years back before the Avengers, in which Coulson is awesome and all kinds of adorbs. Want it so much.
