Oh hey, middle school for me was 4th-8th as well. I usually get odd looks when I tell people that.

Yeah, I got dropped pretty fast in the change to middle school as well. I'm still not clear on the reason, just kids being shitty I guess.

Kids can be such jerks.

Yeah, the glasses was part of it for me. I feel like it was also related to the fact that I moved to a new house over the summer between 3rd and 4th grade (so I didn't really hang out with anyone over the summer because we were busy packing/moving/unpacking, and I missed all that was going on). Also I've always just been kind of "weird" - silly things like how I preferred leggings over jeans as a kid, and was the only kid I knew who wasn't gaga over The Lion King... little things that added up to me not fitting in that well.

My school district used junior high - which was 7th and 8th grade only - instead of middle school. I didn't find out until just recently that this is actually an unusual arrangement in the U.S. Even a lot of people in my area didn't understand, because the suburban districts used middle schools.

I've seen a lot of schools divide the 7&8th grades into junior high with 4-6 being middle school. Schools are wacky.
