General Avengers Fandom Irritation

And this is very, very small. But do people know that there are no such thing as orphanages anymore? They were dismantled by the U.S. government around the 1950s and 1960s. (Maybe later)

But if you are many an Avenger AU in the future - no one would have lived in one. Anytime I read it, it instantly makes me stop reading the fic.

No, it bothers me too. And it happens in so many fandoms rageeee

At least my main fandom now is about aliens instead of set in the US so if they have an orphanage idc.

...Huh. Learn something new every day. I actually did not know that; thanks for the lesson! It's not really something that's ever come up in conversation for me. At the risk of sounding ridiculous, what happens to orphaned kids nowadays, if orphanages are no longer a thing? Foster care? And if so, what if they can't find a foster family for someone right away?

I think we do still have orphanages over here though a lot nicer (I hope) than orphanages portrayed in fics xD

It's not weird. I knew this and I'm not a history major. But then again, I live in the U.S. so it's the kind of information I've just always known.

I've never come across this in Avengers fic. Well, except for Steve sometimes, but he was born in the 20s I think. I guess I've been lucky.

You'd think people would have noticed that they're just not there irl any more? :/ But hey, you know how it is with kids with dead parents/parents who can't take care for them; out of sight, out of mind.
