binder question

(Anonymous) 2012-08-04 10:53 pm (UTC)(link)
dang I thought I'd be early today but I guess not! Anyway I have a question; I just bought a binder off the internet for cosplay purposes (strapless one) and though it is the size I ordered that corresponds to my measurements it seems a bit small. I get that that's the point of a binder, but i can basically only have it on tight and not adjust it to be looser. Basically... should I keep it, since I won't be wearing it every day, or would it be better to get a larger size in order to not risk injuries or anything? I couldn't really find any information regarding this anywhere and just thought I'd ask here before venturing out to the rest of the internet.

If you start feeling short of breath or in pain, switch up. Otherwise, give it a go for a few hours (for as long as you think you would use it in a cosplay session, basically) and see how you feel afterwards.

in writing this i realised that I completely forgot to mention why I was concerned, which was that it didn't bother me while I was wearing it but I felt a fair bit of pain afterwards for quite a while. Possibly I just need to get more used to it but I thought I should check anyway.

Tricky. I will have to defer to someone with more experience, but I would say that, if the pain wasn't the alarming "wait, something went wrong here" type, you try it a few more times, and see if the pain still happens. If it does, definitely switch up or see if you can try or borrow one to see if it's the size what causes the pain.

I wore it for a few hours today, a lot longer than the first time, and I didn't experience any pain, so I think that probably I was just getting overly concerned about it- after all it was my first time wearing it. Anyway, thanks anon =]

I'm glad to hear that! Yes, I can imagine that being nervous would affect how you tense up and react to it.

Best of luck with your cosplay! You go rock that costume and have a blast, okay?

it isn't a particularly complex cosplay, but I will rock it! I will rock it so hard. =D
