Well, yeah, actually that IS fandom standard, but I'll help you out a bit :D

For me, Sherlock/John was an acquired taste, so I understand where you're coming from a bit. I read it like no other now, but when I first started reading in the fandom, I didn't read it at all.

Here are some fics that make me like the pairing (& are completely or mostly non sexual):

-The Long Drive & its sequels (stupiddrawings): IF YOU HAVEN'T READ THIS YET YOU MUST RIGHT NOW. It has everything you're looking for. It's funny & Sherlock is utterly in love with John in a non sexual way. Really good; I'v e read this twice.

-It's Complicated (r scribbles): This fic is really funny and fun. It's not EXACTLY Sherlock/John, but it has undertones, and it paints a good picture of a sexually repressed & damaged Sherlock. First fic that convinced me that he could be a sexual being. Really good; I've read this four times. You should also read all of r scribbles's other stuff, because she's really good.

-The Thermodynamics Series (entangled_now): First fic that convinced me that this pairing was possible. Asexual Sherlock, sex in the fourth part. Really good; I've read this twice.

-walk through ghosts (augustbird): Oh, this fic hurts my heart. Mostly non-sexual Sherlock, it's basically John is getting married and moves out and Sherlock pines after him and John doesn't figure it out until it's far too late. Really good; I've read this twice.

-To Light Another's Path (beautifulfiction): Sick & Casefic; she just completed this one. I followed it for four months because it was so good. There is only one sex scene, and the relationship itself is very believable, even after they have sex, which is always what I feel writers struggle with in Sherlock fic. I really bought the relationship here, moreso than in the majority of fics that I read.

The Important Bit (Raynedrop) & the other fics she says you should read in the summary for this one: All of those fics are Sherlock/John & no sex. They're marriage fics, but they're not schmoopy and they're very believable. I really like the way the pairing is presented in these fics.

The Elephant in the Room Series (flawedamythyst): H/C hallucinating John & Sherlock trying to make him better because it was Moriarty that caused it. I don't think there's any sex in this series, and the chemistry is lovely, and there's no 'healing cock' and you should read it. You should actually read all of flawedamythyst's stuff because her stuff is delightful.

You should read all of KCS scribbler's stuff, although she primarily writes gen.

That's all I can think of right now.
