A pound of pecans when I was 8 months pregnant. I couldn't stop myself. They were just soooo good, and my body was adamant that they were exactly what I needed to eat. They were obviously the most perfect food in existence and why would I want to eat anything except this delicious nutty heaven?

The next day, oh god. Let's say tears flowed like twin waterfalls and I couldn't walk straight for the rest of the day.

Earlier in my pregnancy I'd drink the juice out of the pickle jar like it was the finest ambrosia. I'd literally fantasize about drinking it when I was away from home and couldn't. Cravings are fucking bizarre things.

My mom said she ate almost a dozen raw eggs while pregnant with me and then freaking out about salmonella and driving herself to the hospital.

Of all the things her body could have fixated on. Eggs are crazy nutritious, but yeah, why insist on them being raw? Sometimes I wonder if the cravings drug addicts feel are like those you get in pregnancy, because they are so ridiculously specific and can't be reasoned with.

I hope she didn't have salmonella from it.

Nah. We're all good. Though for the rest of the pregnancy she kept our eggs at the neighbor's to ensure it didn't happen again.
