This is ridiculous. Meeting the person you're going to marry at age four is not horrific, it's a cute story. There is absolutely no evidence anywhere that says that Stephenie Meyer was betrothed from childhood, which id what this is implying. From what I've heard she dated around during college and even apparently got engaged a bunch of times to different guys before settling on the one she's married to now.

I've said it before, I'll say again: there are quite enough horrible things going on in Twilight that you don't need to start making stuff up.

Like I said in my comment, I'm not an expert on the subject, but these were all points explained to me by an ex-Mormon.

My friend told me how she was introduced to someone at a very young age; she wasn't forced to do anything, but the family made sure she socialized with him more than other LDS boys, and made it impossible for her to date any "outsiders". Long story short, even the boy thought he was gonna marry her, no questions asked; she refused and was shunned for it and her parents tried to emotionally manipulate her.

She said she wouldn't be at all surprised if something similar happened with SMeyer (with different results, obviously), and so I'm just gonna take her word for it.
