It's really an incredible story. The original is really little more than God dicking around with people (he's clearly capable of raining hellfire on Pharoah when the guy's slaughtering the Hebrew children, yet decides to save one child, let that child grow up in Pharoah's household; later appears to Moses in a way no one would believe, then has Moses lie to Pharoah about a religious gathering that requires the Hebrews to rob the Egyptians of all their nice clothes and jewelry, and then continually "hardens Pharoah's heart" rather than let the guy realize he's being duped on his own). It's just wat. Wat are you doing, God.
